Exhibition Road shared space - or van parking?

Exhibition Road's shared space.

This gate at the entrance to Imperial College is permanently affixed ajar to allow bikes. Disappointing though to discover Well's Way is now a one way route through the college with no cycling exception. Named after HG Wells I bet he' ... [more]

Boris bikes on Queensgate.

Cycle parking at the corner of Gloucester Road and Cromwell Road.

Good to see some proper cycle parking outside these residences.

Motorcycle parking - with anchors embedded in the ground like those in #38892.

Kenway Road - useful pedestrian route towards Earls Court.

Longridge Road contraflow cycle lane.

Longridge Road. Great to see a contraflow cycle lane here - but it could easily have been wider rather than being a car door lane. The general cycling environment here near Warwick Road and Cromwell Road is very hostile.

Holland Park cycle track

Strangely obstructive arrangement with a cycle route just beyond

@BlockedPavement what's your view on trees? This is top end of Portland Road, Holland Park, London. http://t.co/bI1l6Fo8Xl

Not enough parking at Earl's Court

Just E-Bikes 318 Portobello Road. W10 5RU. Tel: 0208 960 98 48 www.justebikes.co.uk New Electric Bike Shop on Portobello Road. Stocking quality European electric bikes like Sparta and Koga. Come and test them out.

There are bikes regularly anchored to lamp posts outside this doctors surgery and the bus stop in this area. Some secure bike parking would look much better and be very much appreciated.

Imperial College - bikes on every pole, parking for residents' cars.

Imperial College - parking for residents' cars, not bikes

Bus stop on new 'shared space' on Exhibition Road - actually a fairly clear roadway to the east and pedestrian space to the west.

New 'shared space' and Boris-bike station on Exhibition Road.

The Science Museum to the left, the V&A to the right - new 'shared space' on Exhibition Road - reduced to one lane each way here, with parking for cycles and residents' cars.

Penny farthing and other frontwheel drive bike at the Science Museum in London.

This gate is now pinned ajar to let cyclists through, but why is there a big sign on the left asking them to dismount?

The popularity of this island cycle parking area indicates to me that there are not enough cycle racks provided by the nearby Imperial College on its campus.

Central island jam-packed with bikes.

Cobbled Astwood Mews

Contra-flow cycle lane - bit too near to parked cars.

Cyclist crossing a box junction on a busy one-way red route.

Cyclists wanting to go straight on here I think have to follow the cycleway on the right - but it is rather confusing.

Rather a complex cycleway arrangement here, and some good cycle parking. Cyclists wanting to come straight on to here, from the road opposite, have to make their way right over to their right, cross in the narrow section, and return to t ... [more]

Contraflow cycle lane

Contraflow cycle lane.

The bikes parked here demonstrate a clear need for some on-street cycle parking.

Quite a long cycle bypass lane.

Contra-flow cycling in Kempsford Gardens

Dramatically narrowed entrance to Eardley Crescent.

A 6-rack electronic cycle rack could go here next to the private racks - there is one less phonebox now so there is room! This would be appreciated by all the neighbours!

The underpasses have been closed at the Shepherds Bush roundabout (new cycle route to the left).

Cycle route around the Shepherds Bush roundabout (where the underpasses have been closed).

Access to cycle route around the Shepherds Bush roundabout.

Road closure and crossing over the Earls Court one-way system.

Cycle route to Kensington Olympia.

Cycle crossing on the route to Kensington Olympia.

Holland Park - one of the most uptight London parks, most things (including cycling) are forbidden.

Route down the east side of Holland Park (usually).

Attractive if not especially useful cut-through.

Cycle hoops also in use in London (just off Portobello Road)

NCN route 4 turning off the Earls Court one-way system onto Lots Road

NCN 4 using a poor shared-use footway on the Thames Embankment.

Raised crossing, giving pedestrians apparent priority (but probably not priority in the legal sense) outside Sloane Square tube.

Cycle parking outside Sloane Square

New (I think) parking at the V & A - after closing time.

Lots of cycle parking, conveniently(?!) placed in the centre of Kensington High Street.

Well-used Sheffield stands at Kensington library.

Cycle parking integrated with road narrowing outside Kensington and Chelsea Town hall (the cyclist is going the wrong way).

Smokers get better facilities than cyclists at Earls Court.

New - inadequate wheel-bending parking for ten bikes at the front of Earls Court,

The inadequate parking at Earl's Court (see photos #10387 and #10388) has been replaced by slightly more but even more inadequate wheel-bender racks.

An obvious location for cycle-parking at Earls Court

All the cycle parking at Earls Court - though there's plenty of space available beyond

All the cycle-parking provided at Earls Court. That's it.
